Tide Free & Gentle has launched its first annual “Safe for Stuffies” campaign, combining a community donation initiative with the rollout of an updated detergent formula designed for sensitive skin and delicate fabrics.
The campaign, announced by Procter & Gamble brand Tide, invites families across the Cincinnati tri-state area to donate gently used stuffed animals between June 18 and June 25. The donated toys will be professionally cleaned using Tide Free & Gentle and redistributed to families experiencing housing insecurity, crisis, and transition through nonprofit organization Expecting Relief.
The initiative is being supported by Recess Therapy, a platform known for its interviews and conversations with children.
The launch also highlights Tide Free & Gentle’s upgraded detergent formula. According to the company, the revised formulation features an advanced polymer designed to improve soil removal from synthetic fabrics while maintaining its dye-free and perfume-free profile for consumers with sensitive skin.
The company said the updated formula aims to deliver improved cleaning performance, including brighter colours and whiter whites, while remaining suitable for delicate household items.
Alongside the stuffed animal collection drive, Tide will donate thousands of bottles of Tide Free & Gentle detergent to Expecting Relief to support families requiring laundry care products.
The announcement reflects a wider trend across the FMCG sector, where major household brands are increasingly linking product launches and reformulations with community-focused initiatives designed to increase consumer engagement while demonstrating product performance in real-world settings.
For supermarkets and grocery retailers, laundry detergents remain an important household care category, with brands continuing to invest in product innovation, sensitive-skin solutions, and purpose-led marketing campaigns to differentiate themselves on increasingly competitive shelves.
The Safe for Stuffies campaign will run through June 25, with collection locations and participation details being shared through Tide’s official social media channels.
