General Mills is bringing Count Chocula, Boo Berry and Franken Berry back to US retailers in July 2026 with limited-edition packaging created in partnership with The Jim Henson Company.
The seasonal launch marks the 55th anniversary of the Monsters Cereals range. The redesigned boxes feature puppet versions of the three cereal characters developed by Jim Henson’s Creature Shop.
General Mills first introduced the puppet designs in 2025. Their return follows a positive response from consumers and continues the company’s use of entertainment partnerships to support seasonal cereal sales.
This year’s packaging also allows consumers to transform each cereal box into a Monster puppet, adding a collectible and interactive element to the product.
A limited-edition fuzzy Count Chocula box will be sold exclusively through Walmart.com. The box is designed to resemble the fleece texture of the Count Chocula puppet and will be available for $7.76 from 1 October.
The wider Monsters Cereals collection will reach retailers across the United States later in July.
The launch gives supermarkets and online retailers a seasonal product tied to Halloween, while the special Walmart edition provides an exclusive format intended to attract collectors and long-standing fans of the brand.
General Mills generated net sales of $18 billion in its 2026 financial year. Its wider brand portfolio includes Cheerios, Nature Valley, Häagen-Dazs, Old El Paso, Pillsbury and Betty Crocker.
