Ahold Delhaize Takes Systems Offline After Cyber Incident

-

Ahold Delhaize has taken some systems offline after identifying a security issue within its network, the Netherlands-based supermarket group said on 12 October.

The retailer said teams were assessing the incident and working to limit its impact. Stores remained open and serving customers at the time of its statement.

The announcement did not identify the affected systems, explain how the incident began or provide a timetable for restoring them. It also did not confirm whether any customer, employee or supplier information had been taken.

Those gaps matter for businesses working with the group. An open store estate does not, on its own, establish that every digital service or supplier connection is operating normally.

Ahold Delhaize apologised to customers and partners for the disruption. It said protecting its infrastructure was a priority.

For suppliers, the immediate practical question is whether their usual ordering and delivery arrangements are affected. The company’s statement does not provide enough detail to assess that across its different businesses.

A restoration timetable and a fuller account of the services affected remain outstanding.
