Asahi Soft Drinks Co., Ltd. has canceled its scheduled “Asahi Soft Drinks Factory Festa” to be held in Gunma Factory on October 12, 2025. According to the company, the cancellation occurred due to system failure that happened because of a cyber attack.
In the official announcement published by PR TIMES on October 4, 2025, the internal systems were said to have been compromised, interfering with the work of the events. The move is after Asahi Group Holdings announced about the same cyber attack.
The cancellation represents continued digital threats to the beverage supply chain. Asahi Soft Drinks, a major manufacturer and supplier of major supermarkets and convenience stores in Japan, has made advance precautionary actions to ensure that its systems have been secured and its production and distribution is not further affected.
The disruption highlights the increasing significance of cybersecurity to retailers and trade partners in manufacturing and logistics networks that facilitate the distribution of FMCGs. There might be temporary declines related to promotional activities associated with seasonal products.
The company is still working to rebuild damaged systems and is still supplying the retail customers regularly.
The cancellation of the Asahi Soft Drinks Factory Festival points to how cyber resilience is now needed in the producers of fast-moving consumer goods and retail sectors in Japan.
