Carrier STEM Education Support Builds Future Engineering Leaders

-

Carrier is continuing to support the next generation of science and engineering leaders through its involvement with FIRST®, a global youth robotics program that develops STEM skills in students from ages 5 to 18.

During the 2024–2025 season, Carrier supported both international and regional FIRST competitions. The company awarded grants to 30 student teams from Title I schools across 23 U.S. cities. These grants helped teams cover registration costs, tournament fees, and program supplies. The goal is to give students from underserved communities access to STEM education opportunities.

Employee Mentors and Volunteers Lead the Way

Carrier’s BUILDING POSSIBLE™ employee volunteers took part in many local events, helping as judges, referees, and running educational booths. The company also supported employee-led teams and recognized long-term volunteer contributions. One employee, Lori O’Neal, was honored for over 20 years of volunteer service.

In April 2025, five student teams backed by Carrier reached the FIRST Championship in Houston, Texas. Two of these teams were led by Carrier employee mentors. One team finished 49th in the Newton Division, and another finished 8th in the Galileo Division. These results were achieved among 600 total teams at the event, which hosted over 19,000 students from 66 countries.

Carrier’s involvement in STEM education aligns with its goal to build a skilled, inclusive workforce and prepare future talent to support climate and energy solutions. The company continues to promote science, technology, engineering, and math learning through real-world programs that engage students directly.
