Constantia Flexibles has commissioned a new five-layer blown film line with inline machine-direction orientation at its Pirk site, marking a €6.5 million investment in Hosokawa Alpine MDO technology.
The line uses twelve rollers instead of the standard ten, improving the homogeneity and physical properties of the stretched film. This upgrade enhances film quality for mono-material applications.
The new machine is producing EcoLamHighplus, part of Constantia’s polyethylene-based EcoLam family. These mono-material films are recyclable and support the company’s 360-degree strategy to offer sustainable solutions using paper, aluminum, polypropylene, and polyethylene.
The Hosokawa Alpine MDO setup improves optical and mechanical performance, including transparency, stretch, and barrier properties. It also allows for thinner PE films with lower material use.
The Pirk site investment expands Constantia’s service offering in recyclable packaging. The company said demand for mono PE and MDO films continues to grow with increasing environmental expectations.
Constantia confirmed the system is operational and supports long-term innovation through Hosokawa Alpine MDO technology.
