Huhtamaki has announced changes to its Global Executive Team following the departure of Ann O’Hara, President of North America.
The company confirmed that O’Hara has decided to pursue career opportunities outside the packaging group.
Sara Engber, currently President of the Fiber Packaging segment, has been appointed President of North America with immediate effect. She will continue reporting to President and CEO Ralf K. Wunderlich and will be based in De Soto, Kansas, in the United States.
Engber will also continue leading the company’s Fiber Packaging segment on an interim basis until a successor is appointed.
Huhtamaki said O’Hara played a key role in strengthening the foundation of the company’s North American business during her tenure.
The leadership change places Engber in charge of one of Huhtamaki’s largest regional operations. North America represents a major market for foodservice packaging, takeaway containers and fiber-based food packaging solutions used by food brands, retailers and quick-service restaurant chains.
Huhtamaki’s Global Executive Team continues to be led by CEO Ralf K. Wunderlich and includes executives responsible for foodservice packaging, flexible packaging, procurement, sustainability, human resources and corporate affairs.
The company said Engber brings extensive experience from across Huhtamaki’s global operations and has previously led the company’s fiber-based packaging segment, which focuses on renewable packaging materials for food and beverage applications.
Huhtamaki develops packaging solutions designed to protect food and beverages while supporting food safety and reducing waste in the global food supply chain.
The Finland-based packaging company operates in 35 countries with around 17,400 employees and reported net sales of €4.0 billion in 2025.
Why it matters
Leadership changes at major packaging suppliers can influence innovation, production strategy and customer partnerships across the food industry.
Huhtamaki’s fiber packaging portfolio is increasingly important as food manufacturers and retailers expand the use of renewable and recyclable packaging materials.
Developments in the global food packaging sector continue to shape how products move through the broader FMCG supply chain, particularly as sustainability requirements and regulatory pressures increase across international markets.
