Lidl GB has expressed its intentions of continuing to buy 100 percent fresh, day-in-day-out farm British beef of its own brand. The retailer claimed that it does not intend to import or replace beef with those outside of Great Britain.
It was issued on June 20, 2025. It reminds again about the long-term commitment of Lidl to British producers and farmers. The company assured that it will still sell high- quality beef rather than being imported but supply of it will be done locally in all Lidl GB stores.
Lidl Retains Beef Policy with the United Kingdom
Lidl GB consists among the largest purchasers of British beef. Its fresh beef is all Red Tractor Assured. It implies that it is tracable, safe and of good welfare. To ensure its commitment, the company has got in touch with Red Tractor, National Farmers Union, and beef suppliers.
Earlier on in 2025, Lidl held its one-time Grassroots British Farming Conference. It has also opened Lidl Sustainable Beef Group that assists farmers to employ more environmental friendly means. Lidl claimed that its fresh beef policy would not be altered, even though other market players choose a different direction. It added that British agriculture is of high quality that is important to customers and it aims at retaining such values in its supply chain.
Lidl GB was launched as early as 1994. It currently possesses over 980 stores and 14 distribution centres in England and Wales as well as Scotland. The company has a work force of more than 35,000 and is a daughter company of the Schwarz Group which is one of the largest retailers in Europe.
