Meijer will open a new supercenter in Brownsburg, Indiana, on May 6, expanding its store network to 44 locations in the state.
Quick note:
• Opening date: May 6, 2026
• Location: Brownsburg, Indiana
• Store size: 159,000 sq ft
• Indiana store count: 44
• Fuel station opening: April 8
The new Meijer Brownsburg supercenter will be located at 9202 E. 56th Street and will operate as a full-format store, combining grocery, fresh food and general merchandise under one roof.
The store includes fresh produce, bakery, meat, seafood and deli departments, alongside a floral area and garden centre. Non-food categories such as apparel, home goods, electronics, toys and sporting goods are also part of the format.
A full-service pharmacy with a drive-through option will be integrated into the store, alongside health and beauty sections and a dedicated pet department. The adjacent Meijer Express fuel station is scheduled to open earlier, on April 8.
The opening increases Meijer’s footprint in Indiana, where the retailer has operated since 1994. The company currently employs more than 13,000 people across stores, distribution and manufacturing operations in the state.
The Brownsburg site reflects Meijer’s standard large-format supercenter model, designed to capture full-basket shopping across food, general merchandise and services in a single trip.
Hiring is ongoing for part-time and full-time roles at the new location, supporting local employment ahead of the opening.
The expansion comes as regional US retailers continue to invest in large-format stores that combine fresh food, pharmacy and general merchandise, reinforcing the one-stop-shop model in suburban markets.
Why it matters
The Meijer Brownsburg supercenter opening highlights continued investment in physical retail infrastructure in the US Midwest.
For suppliers, the expansion adds new shelf space across fresh, grocery and general merchandise categories. For competitors, it signals sustained competition in Indiana’s supermarket landscape, particularly in high-volume suburban locations.
The addition of fuel, pharmacy and multi-category retail under one site also reflects the ongoing relevance of the supercenter format as retailers aim to consolidate customer spend into a single destination.
