Meijer has wrapped up its fifth annual Meijer Team Gives 2025 campaign — with $3 million in donations going to community organizations across the Midwest.
Each of Meijer’s stores, distribution sites, and supply chain facilities took part. Every location received $10,000 to give to a local nonprofit of their choice — or split between two if they preferred. The company says the goal is simple: keep support close to home, where team members live and work.
Since launching the initiative in 2021, Meijer has donated nearly $15 million to local groups. That includes food banks, youth centers, animal rescues, and community health programs across Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, and Wisconsin.
Store director Brian Dunigan from Youngstown, Ohio, called it one of the team’s favourite programs. It lets employees decide which causes matter most to their own towns. “Inspiring generosity and building stronger communities is at the heart of what we do,” he said.
This year’s campaign again highlighted how deeply the retailer ties its operations to community life. For many regional charities, Meijer’s contribution provides essential funds that help them keep going. One small rescue group in Northeast Ohio said the donation meant “keeping the doors open and the dogs safe.”
The company now operates more than 500 stores and express markets across the Midwest, employing over 70,000 people. It remains privately owned and family-run, known for its one-stop supermarket format and broad fresh-food range.
With the 2025 campaign complete, Meijer says its giving tradition will continue. The retailer donates at least six percent of annual profits to support local causes — a commitment it calls “part of who we are.”
