Metsä Board will present its first-quarter 2026 results on 29 April, alongside a new long-term strategy called “Lead the Pack”, the company confirmed on Tuesday.
The Finland-based board producer said the results will be published at midday local time, followed by an extended webcast and conference call later in the afternoon.
Alongside the Q1 update, management is set to outline the key drivers behind its new strategy, which is expected to shape the company’s direction in folding boxboard, foodservice packaging and white kraftliners.
The presentation will be led by CEO Esa Kaikkonen and senior executives across finance, commercial operations, containerboard, and supply chain. The event will be held in English and available via webcast, with an option for in-person attendance in Helsinki.
Metsä Board is a key supplier of fibre-based packaging materials used across global FMCG and supermarket supply chains. The company has been expanding its focus on lightweight, recyclable board solutions as retailers and brands push to reduce plastic use and meet stricter EU packaging rules.
The upcoming strategy update comes at a time when demand for sustainable packaging is accelerating, particularly across private label and fresh food categories where fibre-based alternatives are gaining traction.
The company reported sales of €1.8 billion in 2025 and is part of Metsä Group, a forest industry group owned by Finnish forest owners.
More detail on the “Lead the Pack” strategy and its potential impact on packaging supply chains is expected when the full presentation is released later this month.
Why it matters
The strategy update could signal how packaging suppliers are adapting to growing pressure from retailers and regulators to deliver recyclable, low-carbon materials at scale.
For supermarkets and FMCG brands, any shift in fibre-based packaging supply or pricing may directly influence private label development, sustainability targets and in-store packaging formats.
