Danish homeware retailer Søstrene Grene has confirmed plans to open a new store at Whiteley Shopping Centre in Hampshire, expanding its physical retail presence in southern England.
The new location will become the company’s third store in the county, joining existing branches in Winchester and Basingstoke. An official opening date has not yet been announced.
The Whiteley opening marks another step in Søstrene Grene’s ongoing UK expansion strategy, which continues to focus on bricks-and-mortar growth in high-footfall shopping destinations.
The retailer said the Hampshire location was selected as a natural next step for its regional footprint, following steady performance from its existing stores in the area. Whiteley Shopping Centre attracts a mix of fashion, lifestyle and grocery shoppers, making it a strategic location for homeware and seasonal product formats.
Søstrene Grene operates more than 300 stores globally and has continued to prioritise physical retail alongside digital channels. In the UK, the brand has steadily increased store numbers, targeting retail parks and shopping centres with strong weekend traffic and family-focused catchment areas.
CEO and co-owner Mikkel Grene said the new store reflects the company’s aim to make its product range more accessible to local communities while maintaining its in-store shopping experience model.
The expansion also highlights continued confidence among international retailers in the UK physical retail market, despite ongoing pressure from rising operating costs and shifting consumer behaviour.
Søstrene Grene said the official opening date will be confirmed shortly. The Whiteley launch will add to the retailer’s growing UK store network as it continues to prioritise physical retail expansion in high-footfall shopping destinations.
