Reasons for Recalls
In Ireland, tests detected Salmonella in Mallon’s Light 6 Pork Sausages and possible Listeria monocytogenes in various goat’s cheese products.
In the UK, the Farmfoods curry was found to contain undeclared prawns (a crustacean allergen), and Co-op pies contained undeclared milk. Co-op 4 Mini Pork & Pickle Pies are being recalled because they contain Milk which is not mentioned on the label. This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to Milk.
Health Risks Linked to Recalls
Salmonella: Causes diarrhea, fever, stomach cramps, and vomiting. Severe cases may require hospitalization.
Listeria monocytogenes: Can cause meningitis and severe illness in pregnant women, newborns, elderly, and those with weakened immune systems.
Crustacean allergy: Can trigger swelling, difficulty breathing, and life-threatening anaphylaxis.
Milk allergy: May cause rash, swelling, breathing issues, and anaphylaxis.
