Aldi has become the first UK supermarket to stock Asti Spumante Rosé DOCG, expanding its Italian sparkling wine range ahead of the summer trading season.
The new Aldi Asti Rosé DOCG will arrive in stores across the United Kingdom from 4 June with a retail price of £4.99.
The launch adds another seasonal product to Aldi’s growing wine and beverage category as UK supermarkets continue competing on affordable premium grocery and drink ranges during the summer period.
Produced in Asti in Italy’s Piedmont region, the sparkling rosé is made using Moscato and Brachetto grapes. Aldi said the wine features floral aromas, berry flavours and a medium-sweet finish designed for summer occasions and seasonal entertaining.
The retailer described the launch as a rare UK supermarket listing for Asti Rosé DOCG, a category that remains relatively limited across mainstream grocery retail.
Summer wine competition increases in UK supermarkets
UK supermarket wine retail activity traditionally increases during the summer months as retailers introduce seasonal sparkling wines, rosé ranges and promotional beverage campaigns.
The Aldi Asti Rosé DOCG launch also reflects wider pressure across the UK FMCG sector to balance value pricing with premium positioning as shoppers continue seeking lower-cost alternatives without fully trading down on quality.
Italian sparkling wines remain an important category across European grocery retail, particularly during seasonal sales periods linked to outdoor dining, events and social gatherings.
Aldi has continued expanding its wine portfolio in recent years as supermarket retailers compete more aggressively in premium private label and exclusive beverage categories.
The Aldi Asti Rosé DOCG will be available in stores nationwide from 4 June.
