SPAR expands ice cream range with Austrian-made products

-

SPAR has expanded its ice cream range for summer 2026, introducing new premium, organic and vegan products while increasing its focus on locally produced ice cream from Austrian manufacturers.

The retailer said its ice cream assortment now includes around 90 products, with almost half produced by small ice cream makers and regional suppliers across Austria, including companies in Vorarlberg, Carinthia, Styria and Vienna.

The new range includes products such as SPAR Premium Hazelnut Nougat Ice Cream, SPAR Ice Cream Parlor Apricot Cookie and S-BUDGET Peanut Ice Cream Bars.

SPAR said consumer demand is increasingly shifting towards premium desserts, with ice cream being positioned as an indulgent treat that can be enjoyed at home.

The retailer is also expanding its plant-based offering. Vienna-based Veganista has added two new flavours to its range at SPAR, including a new blueberry sorbet under the Young & Urban by SPAR label.

Blueberry has emerged as one of the key flavour trends for summer 2026, joining popular fruit flavours such as mango and lemon in the retailer’s freezer aisles.

SPAR is also continuing to invest in organic products. According to the 2026 Greenpeace market check, INTERSPAR ranked first and SPAR second for environmentally friendly organic ice cream offerings in Austrian retail.

The retailer’s organic range includes products under the SPAR Natur*pur brand, including organic chocolate ice cream produced in Styria using organically sourced ingredients.

The expanded assortment also highlights SPAR’s collaboration with regional suppliers, including Kolibri in Vorarlberg, the Probaschnig family dairy farm in Carinthia and Salon Valentino in Styria.

The summer range reflects broader trends in the European grocery sector, where retailers are increasingly using private-label products, local sourcing and plant-based innovation to attract consumers and differentiate their frozen food categories.

SPAR’s new ice cream products are now available across its stores in Austria for the summer season.
