ALDI Nord and ALDI Süd have lowered prices on several BARISSIMO coffee products across stores in Germany. The new prices are effective from this week. Many whole bean and ground coffee lines are now up to €1 cheaper than before.
Coffee is one of the most common items in weekly shopping baskets. ALDI says the change is to help customers manage daily costs, while still keeping quality stable. The move comes at a time when household budgets in Germany remain under pressure, and value retailers continue to compete on core pantry items.
The reductions apply to popular 1kg whole bean products such as BARISSIMO Caffè Crema, Espresso Cremoso, and Caffè Gustoso. Prices on these products drop from €13.99 to €12.99 at many stores. Some SKUs at ALDI Süd also see the same lower level. Ground coffee in 500g packs, including BARISSIMO Gold and BARISSIMO Mild & Harmonisch, are now €0.50 cheaper.
The permanent price cut signals continued price leadership from ALDI in one of the highest-volume categories. Coffee is often used as a benchmark product when shoppers compare supermarket value. Lower coffee prices may influence store choice, especially for customers who buy whole beans regularly.
Private label performance remains a key focus for both ALDI Nord and ALDI Süd. The BARISSIMO brand has grown its share in recent years as more shoppers look for strong quality at lower price points. The latest reduction supports that position and could encourage repeat purchasing.
What happens next will be seen in how other retailers respond. Coffee is a competitive category in Germany, and price moves can spread quickly across the market.
