ALDI Cuts Wine and Snack Prices Permanently

ALDI has permanently reduced prices on wine, sparkling wine, whisky and selected snack products in Germany, marking its ninth price reduction round of 2026.

The move, announced on 12 February, comes ahead of the carnival season and applies across a wide range of alcoholic beverages and private label snack lines. Customers can save up to €0.60 per product, depending on the item.

The reductions cover multiple formats, including 750ml wine bottles, one-litre QBA wines, 700ml spirits and multipack snack items. Price cuts vary between €0.10 and €0.60 per SKU.

At ALDI SÜD, some changes take effect from 16 February. Certain wine and sparkling wine products are available only at ALDI Nord or ALDI SÜD, reflecting the operational split within the German market.

This latest adjustment follows eight earlier price reductions this year. ALDI continues to position itself as a price leader in the German discount sector, reinforcing its focus on easing pressure on household budgets.

The categories affected are commercially significant. Wine and spirits remain high-volume traffic drivers in Germany, particularly during seasonal peaks such as carnival. Snacks and confectionery also play a strong role in basket-building, especially in the discount channel.

By making these reductions permanent rather than promotional, ALDI signals a structural pricing strategy rather than a short-term marketing push. That could increase competitive pressure across the German supermarket landscape, particularly in entry-level alcohol and private label snack segments.

The announcement underlines ongoing pricing competition in Germany’s grocery market, where discounters continue to use core categories to reinforce value positioning.

ALDI has not indicated further categories for price adjustments at this stage.
