Aldi Issues Urgent Recall of Gianni’s Cheeky Monkey Ice Cream

-

Aldi has told shoppers to stop eating one of its ice creams after a label mistake made it unsafe for some people.

The supermarket said its Gianni’s Cheeky Monkey Ice Cream has been pulled from stores because it contains wheat (gluten) that was not listed on the label.

The recall notice says the product could be dangerous for anyone with coeliac disease or a gluten intolerance. Customers are being urged not to eat it and to return it to any Aldi store for a full refund. No receipt is needed.

The Food Standards Agency has issued an official alert confirming the recall. Aldi said the problem only affects this specific product and that other Gianni’s ice creams are safe to eat.

The discount chain added that it is working with suppliers to make sure the issue is corrected quickly.

This recall is the latest in a run of allergen alerts across UK supermarkets, as retailers tighten checks on food labelling and ingredient controls.

Aldi said it takes product safety seriously and apologised to customers for the inconvenience.
