Colruyt Hoogstraten Reopens with Sustainability Upgrades

-

Colruyt Hoogstraten reopens on 9 July 2025 after major renovations aimed at improving sustainability, store layout, and shopping experience. The Colruyt Lowest Prices Store along Sint-Lenaartsweg has been renewed with 20 meters of internal area and an overhauled butchers department, new bread department, improved checkout areas and refreshed Collect&Go services.

The refurb is of 1,500 square metre area. The internal design of the store has been optimised so that shopping can have more efficiency. All the modifications are a part of the simple service at the best prices principle of Colruyt Group and it is possible with the help of a team of 28 co-workers and 7 butchers.

The meat department has changed to display the fresh meat along with cold cuts in the same section. All meat is showcased in refrigeration units which are transparent and closed. Furthermore, customers have an opportunity to watch butchers at an open room in the back part of the department. The arrangement is such that the service will be easier and the preparation take place in-store visible to customers.

There is also the new bread unit in the store. Such upgrade promotes the preservation of a baked product leaving it fresh and assists in favorable check out process. At the exit, payment desks and cashier desks have been lowered so that there can be increased eye contact between the customers in the shop and employees.

The picking up point, Collect&Go, has reopened. The service allows the customers to order groceries online through collectandgo.be or Xtra mobile application, and the orders are packaged offline in the shops and offered according to the time chosen. The home delivery services are as well supported by the service, with Drivers, who is a local courier partner of Colruyt. Hoogstraten has its own Collect&Go zone and the shopping in the zone should be quick and convenient as possible.

The basis of renovation was on sustainability. The old lighting system was changed with the new LED lighting lamps that had motion sensors. This saves up to 30 percent in energy consumption. Besides this, the remaining 3/4 of the heating of a refrigeration is now captured and utilized through the air conditioning system which is routed to heat the store.

New features are also associated with the car park. They have put up 8 wide format bicycle stands. There now exists a new electric-car spot to charge in, and it has 3 fast stations which can charge either 6 or more cars and 1 ordinary station capable of charging 2 more vehicles. These improvements fit in Colruyt Group energy-efficiency strategy.

The festive opening begins on the night of Tuesday 8 July 2025. The store will give the first-morning visitors an opportunity to have a preview in the store where there will be snacks and product tasters. It completely reopens the following day on 9 July.

The new store has its address as Sint-Lenaartsweg 20A, 2320 Hoogstraten and will be open to operations daily except Sundays between 8:30 am to 8:00 pm, and it will close at 9:00 pm on Fridays.
