-

J.M. Smucker FD&C Color Removal will be completed by the end of 2027 in all consumer food products will be applied on J.M. Smucker. Such change will also be reflected in sugar-free fruit spreads, ice cream toppings and some of Hostess(r) products which still include FD&C-certified synthetic colors. The majority of the products are already in line with this standard, and the remaining products are slowly being altered to change the ingredients as the future development.

The school foodservice channels too are under the reformulation plan. Solely a few of Smucker K-12 School products contain no FD&C colors. The company is also collaborating with distribution partners to eliminate any such item in the sales to schools by fiscal year 20262027.

FD&C dyes are the artificial colors sanctioned by the Food and Drug Administration of the U.S. to be put in food and beverages. They are strongly present in the food business but attract criticism of parents, educators and health conscious consumers. The choice taken by Smucker includes the company into the range of other producers who adapt to the changing requirements towards ingredients.

Quite significant changes have already been implemented in the sphere of the clean-label by the company. The ingredient Uncrustables 12- High-fructose corn syrup was dropped. To satisfy the demand of simple recipes, new fruit spreads made of all-natural ingredients and containing less sugar were introduced as New SmuckerKit, (R) fruit spreads. This is in relation to FD&C colors removal as part of this reformulation trend.

Teams are cross-functional in seeking ingredients substitutes, product performance testing and assuring supply chain capacity. During the transition, product safety, quality, and consistency are among the first priorities.

J.M. Smucker Co. is the owner, as well as manager, of a wide portfolio of brands in North America. Such re-formulation will only be applied in the packaged food division and not Dunkin 168 world steel mills 169 restaurant products.

Adjustments targeted at ingredients continue to be among the fundamental components of the company in making it compete, and at the same time take care of the regulatory, and consumer demands. As the changes are implemented, especially within the next two years, Smucker will still watch consumer and retailer response, formula efficiencies, and formulation efficiencies.

The company supports canceling FD&C colors to align the product development with the transparency, health trends, and responsible manufacturing. The move demonstrates a long-term effort to provide choices that fit the society desire of simple labels and low synthetic components.
