JD.com Launches JoyExpress Europe Network

-

JD.com has launched JoyExpress, a new express delivery network across Europe, marking a significant step in its regional retail expansion.

The service is operated by JD Logistics and will initially support Joybuy, JD.com’s European online retail platform currently in beta.

JoyExpress is now operating in Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and France, with expansion planned across Belgium and Luxembourg.

The company is offering same-day and next-day delivery in major cities, supported by more than 60 logistics sites and depots across Europe. The fleet includes branded trucks, delivery vans and electric cargo bikes.

In selected metropolitan areas, the service also provides integrated delivery and installation for large household appliances.

JD.com said the network combines warehousing, transportation, bulky goods handling, cold chain logistics and full supply chain management. The model is supported by automation technologies and data-driven warehouse systems.

Globally, JD Logistics operates more than 1,600 owned warehouses and around 2,000 cloud warehouses across 24 markets, covering over 34 million square metres of storage space. It also manages more than 130 bonded and overseas warehouses.

Initially, JoyExpress will focus on serving Joybuy. The company indicated that the delivery network may later open to external business partners.

Why It Matters

The launch signals JD.com’s direct infrastructure entry into Europe, not just a marketplace rollout.

Instead of relying entirely on third-party carriers, JD is building its own last-mile backbone. That gives it greater control over delivery speed, cost and service levels.

For European logistics providers, it introduces a new large-scale competitor with established global infrastructure.

For suppliers of consumer goods, electronics and potentially FMCG, it creates an additional e-commerce distribution route in major EU markets.

With 60+ sites already operating and further expansion planned, JoyExpress strengthens JD.com’s long-term position in the European retail technology landscape.
