Lidl brought together more than 300 suppliers at its Supplier Day 2026 event in Barcelona as the retailer outlined new growth opportunities across Spain and Europe.

The event, held at Terminal D of the Port of Barcelona, gathered more than 600 attendees including supplier companies, potential partners, purchasing teams, and representatives from the Schwarz Group ecosystem.

Lidl Supplier Day 2026 focused on strengthening collaboration with suppliers as the retailer continues expanding its store network across Spain.

The supermarket chain said it expects to open around 50 stores this year through new locations and modernisation projects. The expansion is expected to create additional opportunities for suppliers supplying Lidl’s growing network.

Lidl said its private label strategy remains central to its business model, with store brands continuing to grow in popularity across Europe and Spain.

The retailer also highlighted its role as a major export platform for Spanish products. According to the company, more than half of the products it purchases from Spanish suppliers are distributed internationally through Lidl’s European store network.

One section of Lidl Supplier Day 2026 focused on supply-chain stability and operational resilience within the Schwarz Group. Representatives from divisions including Schwarz Digits, Tailwind and PreZero presented services linked to logistics, digitalisation, waste management, and operational infrastructure.

The event also promoted sustainability initiatives. Lidl confirmed the 2026 supplier meeting was certified as a Zero Waste event in partnership with PreZero, with measures introduced to minimise and recover waste generated during the gathering.

Lidl currently operates more than 700 stores and 14 logistics platforms in Spain and works with more than 860 national suppliers. The retailer said it purchases products worth more than €7.9 billion annually from Spanish suppliers.

The company continues to position Spain as an important sourcing and export market within its wider European retail network.

Lidl Supplier Day 2026 comes as supermarket groups across Europe continue strengthening supplier relationships and expanding private label sourcing strategies to support long-term growth and supply-chain stability.
