Okay City has opened a new convenience supermarket in Uccle, marking the chain’s tenth city-format store in the Brussels-Capital Region and its 24th location nationwide. The store officially opens to customers on Wednesday, 21 January 2026.
The new Okay City store is located on Alsembergsesteenweg and covers nearly 400 square metres. It is designed for fast daily shopping and local convenience, with a full assortment of everyday essentials.
Shoppers will find fresh fruit and vegetables, meat, fish, bread and pastries, alongside drinks, household products and ready-to-eat meals. The store also offers takeaway options such as fresh sandwiches and coffee for customers on the move.
Okay City continues to position itself as a low-price urban convenience format. Prices and promotions are adjusted daily to match nearby supermarkets, allowing customers to benefit from competitive pricing without having to compare offers themselves.
The Uccle store will be staffed by a permanent team of seven employees. It will operate seven days a week, including Sunday mornings.
Opening hours vary by day. From Tuesday to Saturday, the store opens from 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. On Sundays, it will operate from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Monday trading begins at midday and runs until 7:30 p.m.
Sustainability has also been built into the new location. The store does not use gas or fuel oil and is equipped with a cooling system that produces significantly lower CO₂ emissions compared with traditional installations. Waste heat from refrigeration is reused for store heating, while LED lighting reduces electricity consumption.
The latest opening supports Colruyt Group’s wider urban retail strategy. The company continues to expand neighbourhood-based formats that focus on accessibility, speed and affordability for city shoppers.
With this launch, Okay City now operates ten stores across Brussels and a total of 24 locations across Belgium.
Why It Matters
Urban convenience formats are becoming a core growth area for Belgian supermarkets. The expansion of Okay City shows Colruyt Group’s push to secure neighbourhood locations and capture everyday top-up shopping in dense city areas.
