Publix Opens New Store in Palm Beach Gardens

-

Publix has opened a new supermarket in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, continuing the retailer’s expansion across one of the fastest-growing grocery markets in the United States.

The new store opened on 21 May at Avenir Town Center on Northlake Boulevard. Publix confirmed the location is Store #1800 and part of its wider Florida growth strategy.

The supermarket spans more than 48,000 square feet and serves the rapidly developing Avenir master-planned community in Palm Beach Gardens. The opening comes after major construction delays caused by tornado damage linked to Hurricane Milton in late 2024.

Publix said the new location includes a full grocery offering designed for local residential growth in the area. The store is expected to strengthen Publix’s position in South Florida as competition intensifies among supermarket chains expanding across the state.

Florida remains Publix’s largest market by store count. The retailer continues opening new locations while rivals including ALDI US and Trader Joe’s also increase investment across the region.

The Palm Beach Gardens opening also reflects broader supermarket development trends tied to suburban population growth, mixed-use retail projects, and demand for modern grocery formats with expanded fresh food and convenience offerings.

Industry analysts continue to watch Florida closely as one of the most competitive supermarket expansion markets in North America.

Why it matters

The new Publix opening highlights how major supermarket operators are still investing heavily in physical retail despite growing e-commerce competition.

Florida’s grocery sector continues attracting investment because of strong population growth, residential development, and rising consumer demand for premium supermarket experiences. The expansion also adds pressure across the wider US grocery retail market as chains compete for long-term regional market share.
