REWE Group has extended chief financial officer Telerik Schischmanow’s contract until June 2032, securing a further five-year term beginning in July 2027.

The extension keeps a long-serving executive in charge of the German retail group’s finances. Schischmanow has held the CFO position and served on the executive board since July 2022.

Supervisory board chairman Stefan Lenk said the board backed his continued leadership, citing his financial expertise, knowledge of the group and contribution to its stability. Chief executive Lionel Souque also welcomed the decision.

The contract extension was reported by European Supermarket Magazine on 17 September.

Schischmanow’s experience spans acquisitions, corporate strategy and operational finance. According to REWE’s executive biography, he joined the company in 2006 as head of mergers and acquisitions.

Between 2009 and 2011, he was CFO of transGourmet Holding, in which REWE then held a 50% stake. He returned to REWE in September 2011, taking responsibility for areas including corporate development, strategy and group controlling.

He subsequently oversaw administration and services within the German retail business before becoming group CFO.

The renewal follows a milestone year for the business. REWE says external sales rose 4% in 2025 and exceeded €100 billion for the first time. That measure is external sales, rather than a figure for profit.

For suppliers and other business partners, the decision signals continuity in financial leadership. It does not itself announce a change in procurement terms or a new investment programme.

Schischmanow said maintaining financial strength would remain central to creating room for future investment and business opportunities. His renewed term starts after the current contract ends in June 2027.
